The Expendables 3 Movie - Sylvester Stallone brought some fancy names into EX2, gave the directing to a action movies pro and now we are waiting for more in EX3. It is hard to think that third movie can bring more action but there are some actors still missing on the expendable list and we hope to see them in The Expandables 3. How much tougher can a tough movie be?

So Jackie is in Cannes and he was asked...

May 17, 2013

"[The Expendables team] did contact me, but right now I have not read the script yet," says Chan. "I’d love to work with Stallone, but until I get back next week and meet Stallone and his manager, see the script… that’s when he’ll tell me what happens."

"I’d most like to have a fight scene with Stallone. Though I’d like to team up with him against the bad guy. There are so many action stars involved, it must be so difficult being the director. How do you share out every scene?

I want to do something special, I want to do something special! At the end, it’s all small parts, small parts, small parts. I want a big part! I hope I have a big part with Stallone!"

But this fight scene with Stallone... who would win in that fight? "I would", replies Chan with a smile. "I run faster than him."

Expendables 3 got the director - Patrick Hughes

April 24, 2013

Sylvester Stallone played a little game with his Twitter followers Tuesday and the result was his disclosure of the director for The Expendables 3.
That name? Patrick Hughes, best known for the small Australian film Red Hill, which starred True Blood‘s Ryan Kwatten. Check out Sly’s tweets below.

Here are Sly’s tweets about Hughes. If you head to the feed, you’ll see that he really did try to get Mel Gibson to direct as rumored. Below, though, he talks about also trying to get John Woo and that he’d direct it himself if he didn’t have to star.

Wesley Snipes offered role in EX3

April 9, 2013

Sylvester Stallone is set to kickstart WESLEY SNIPES' Hollywood comeback by offering him a role in The Expendables' third installment, according to U.S. reports.

Snipes was released from prison on 2 April (13) after a 27-month stint behind bars for tax evasion.

He is currently under house arrest until July (13), but the Blade actor has already landed his first post-prison role after his Demolition Man co-star Stallone wrote a part for him in the next Expendables movie, according to the New York Daily News.

A source tells the newspaper, "Sly wants to help Wesley get back on his feet. He sees him as a super addition to The Expendables in what will be their biggest adventure yet."

"The script is being processed and Sly wants Wesley to jump on board. Filming is likely to start late this year."

Vinnie Jones: Me and Statham will kick arse

February 257, 2013

Vinnie JonesVinnie Jones has revealed that he is in talks to star in The Expendables 3.

Jones - who guest stars on Sky Living's Elementary on Tuesday, March 5 - told Digital Spy that he has spoken to Sylvester Stallone about a possible role in the third instalment of the action franchise.

"I've spoken to Sly... and hopefully I will be in Expendables 3," the English star confirmed.

"It's in the very early stages, but hopefully they'll write my character and me and Jason Statham will kick some arse!"

Jones has filmed forthcoming action film The Tomb with Stallone and Arnold Schwarzengger, and appeared alongside Statham in the movies Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000) and Mean Machine (2001).

Tom Sizemore Eyes Villain Role in EX3

February 20, 2013

Tom SizemoreWe reported last month that Wesley Snipes and  Jackie Chan are in talks to join the cast of The Expendables 3, and today we learned about another potential cast member.

While a deal has not been finalized yet, Tom Sizemore revealed to me that he is in contention to play the main villain in The Expendables 3.

"I might be going back there for The Expendables 3. I'm up for the lead villain. They shot either the first or the second one there, and they're going back there for the third one. I'm up for it, I'm being considered to be in The Expendables 3. How about Sly, coming back like that? Isn't that great? He gave me my first real break in Lock Up. I love the guy. He's never, ever turned his back on me. I don't know if people know that Sylvester Stallone is one of the most decent gentlemen that I've ever met. He's the most consistent friend I've ever had."

John Woo interested in directing EX3

January 7, 2013

The Expendables 3 is in the works, whether you’re excited for it or not. Perhaps the main reason to get excited for the flick is to see who Sylvester Stallone wrangles in to join the ensemble, other than Jackie Chan. But perhaps even more crucial to the movie’s success will be the man sitting in the director’s chair. We’re still awaiting word of the Expendables 3 director but John Woo, who at one point was unquestionably the most exciting conductor of action, says he “will do it”…

In an interview picked up by ExpendablesPremiere.com, Woo speaks about the possibility of directing Expendables 3 with enthusiasm:

I am a big fan of all those guys and I will do it but I want less studio and producer interference. I want to shoot the movie the way I want. That’s the difference making a movie in China and Hollywood. In China, The Studio and producer allow flexibility to the director. One thing for sure is, I want it to take place in China.

However, if he’s worried about producer interference, he must realize that Stallone likely has the final word when it comes to these films. Could the two coexist on the same set?

Jackie Chan in for The Expendables 3

January 2, 2013

Jackie ChanWe’re a little hesitant to jump on any Expendables 3 casting announcements. After all, we’ve been burned before. But the latest action icon claiming to be part of Sylvester Stallone’s announced sequel is going on record as saying he’s “in,” and his addition would makes sense (and be awesome).

Jackie Chan is busy promoting his latest film CZ12 in Kuala Lumpur. According to Cinema Online, Chan was asked about participating in the third Expendables -- which Stallone has confirmed – and his affirmative answer might have survived the journalist who dared to ask.

"Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes,” Chan said.

As the story goes, Chan had even more suggestions, saying that he’d prefer Stallone to make the third Expendables movie into more of a “buddy” template, to which Stallone reportedly agreed. Here’s where we start to grow a little skeptical. Would Stallone really make creative departures from his lucrative formula because Chan had suggested them? I mean, Chan’s an outstanding addition to the Expendables world, but it might have made more sense 15 years ago, when the high-kicking action star was in his prime.

Then again, the “aging action star” is the whole hook of The Expendables, so plugging Chan into the series in a meatier role sounds about right.

Nicolas Cage EX3 Reports False

November 9, 2012

Sylvester Stallone says he “has no knowledge of Nic Cage joining Expendables 3,” the actor told Deadline today, and that reports of negotiations for the Oscar winner to join the latest film in the action franchise are false. Several news outlets reported yesterday that Stallone had confirmed Cage for the next Expendables movie, citing either a Stallone fan Facebook page purporting to be the actor’s own or comments by Stallone that appeared in Spanish daily El Pais earlier this year.

In the El Pais article, Cage’s name — as well as that of Mickey Rourke, who was in the first Expendables, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes — were noted as additions to a third Expendables. Those statements were made during European junkets this summer for Expendables 2, when Stallone was asked at a press conference who he would like to see in a possible second sequel. Although the Cage rumors are untrue, what is a fact is that Expendables 3 is in the offering.

The Expendables 3 and The Mechanic 2 Confirmed

November 2, 2012

Nu Image and Millennium Films have quietly made a couple of announcements over at the American Film Market, as they reveal their upcoming slate of films. Along with Brad Anderson's Eliza Graves, there's also Automata and Before I Go To Sleep on the firm's sales sheet.

And then two further titles The Expendables 3 and The Mechanic 2.

Even though the film didn't do quite the level of business as the first in the US, The Expendables 2 has still gone on to outgross the original movie. Its current take stands at just shy of $300m. With that in mind, The Expendables 3 is something of a no-brainer, and the agents of ageing action stars are waiting by their phones right now. Pity the fool who does battle with The Statham.

The Mechanic 2 is more of a surprise. The Mechanic was a remake of the Charles Bronson original, with the new version starring The Statham. We liked it, but its worldwide take of $51m meant a follow-up wasn't highly likely. Still, throw in the home disc sales and other ancillaries, and the movie's likely make a tidy profit for Nu Image and Millennium. Hence, a sequel.

Gina Carano to headline the female version of The Expendables

October 2, 2012

Like many had guessed would happen Variety confirmed yesterday as officially happening.

The gorgeous ass-kicking Gina Carano (Haywire) has been cast as the lead in the female version of “The Expendables.”

A real name for the film has yet to be given, but Adi Shankar (“The Grey”) is producing, and Dutch Southern is writing the script.

Shankar is in talks with other actresses prominent in the action genre (I’m guessing Kate Beckinsale - Underworld, Jessica Biel - Blade Trinity, and Milla Jovovich Resident Evil, but no other casting has been announced yet.

While I think Carano is a good choice for this film I think it is a mistake to have her as a lead as she doesn’t have the following other action stars will.

Look at Randy Couture in “The Expendables,” should he be there? Absolutely he should, but they knew his place and he played second fiddle to the big names.

Strong Overseas Box Office Makes Case for Expendables 3

September 24, 2012

With “The Expendables 2” underperforming at the box office in the States despite significantly better critics reviews and an A- Cinemascore, the planned third film was in jeopardy of not happening.

That would be disappointing because the second film, with Simon West replacing Sylvester Stallone at the helm, was better than the first. The action sequences were more elaborate and thrilling, the laughs were plentiful, and Van Damme made a great villain.

It’s a mystery why the second film didn’t do better. So far, it has only generated $81.3M at the box office and will have trouble reaching $90M. The first film did $103M. Box office analyst had their theories on the lower revenue. I’m putting my chips on the Aurora shooting, especially since “The Expendables 2” is a pretty violent film.

Thanks to foreign audiences though, the third is probably secured.

According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, “The Expendables 2” has grossed $186M overseas, of which, $40M is from China. They better make sure Jet Li returns for the third film. That’s already $15M ahead of the first film, and it’s still playing.

Worldwide, it has accumulated $267.3M. The first film did $274.4M. In another week, the second film will easily overtake that figure.

Chuck Norris - Just number 2

September 17, 2012

It looks like the man whose tears cure aids, but never cries, will not be joining “The Expendables 3.”

Chuck Norris told Access Hollywood, which The Playlist reported yesterday, “Nope. Just number 2. This is it for me…Oh, yeah. This is very special. Just to be able to do the film with guys I’ve known for many, many years. To get a chance to get in and fight with them, it was a lot of fun. Plus, getting a chance to meet Terry Crews, who I hadn’t met before, and Jason Statham, whom I hadn’t met before. It was fun just to do that.”

I really like the fact that Chuck Norris seems unmotivated by money, and I’m sure the fact that he is in his 70s helps him make that decision as well. I think it would ruin the value of his role in the second film if he shows up in the third film.

Hopefully the producers are able to lock down Clint Eastwood (“Unforgiven”) or Harrison Ford (“Air Force One”), whom they are currently sending offers to.

Expendables 2 takes over box office

August 19, 2012

EX2 took first place at the US box office this weekend with $28 million. But that's $6 million less than the $34 million debut of the first film on the same weekend in 2010. But since there's no international numbers yet and also this is movie for a specific audiance - guyz, 25+ years old since that's the generation that was born in 80's.

Also looking from my own perspective, I never rush to the cinema on the premiere weekend. So yeah, I run this site and I still didn't seen the movie :D

The reviews are mixed so far, critics gave it a 5/10 (but who listens the critics anyway, I wouldn't see half of movies I did if i was listening them) and fans, which is more important, gave it 8/10.

Eastwood, Cage & Ford in talks for Expendables 3

August 13, 2012

The Expendables 2 is out this week, and to celebrate, we sat down with producer Avi Lerner to discuss the movie.

And, during our chat, Lerner revealed that he’s in talks with some of the biggest names in cinema for Expendables 3.

“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].”

“And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”

Which is obviously fairly incredible.

Expendables 2 going "hard R"

July 21, 2012

Director Simon West have confirmed all those original rumors can officially be forgotten, with The Expendables 2 wearing a “very hard R” rating as a badge of honor.

Jo Blo initially got a hold of West in an effort to close the whole ratings controversy and were granted the following statement:

It’s a very hard R, actually. The rumor got out — I’m sure there were some financial people who wanted it to be PG-13 because they thought it would somehow make more money or have a broader audience, but there was no way. I mean, when you get these guys on the set, they can’t say a line without putting the F-bomb in it, and they can’t pick up a gun without blowing several limbs off. There was no way this film could ever work other than an R, because that’s just not what it is, and I think the core audience that loved the first one would just be outraged if it wasn’t an R. It would be so sanitized, and such a weird version of it. I can’t see how it could ever be PG-13. There was a rumor out there or some pressure out there because somebody thought they would somehow make it a family movie. It’s more a dysfunctional family movie.

Our condolences to Mr. Stallone

July 14, 2012

Sage Stallone, the 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone, was found dead today at his Los Angeles home, EW has confirmed.

“Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone,” Sylvester’s rep, Michelle Bega, said in a statement. “His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha [Czack]. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever.”

The Los Angeles Police Department told People that there were no signs of foul play and that reports that Sage died from a prescription overdose are premature.

“It could have been a heart attack or a stroke,” LAPD Commander Andrew Smith told People, adding the coroner’s office will likely spend several weeks on a toxicology report before it determines cause of death.

Why Donnie Yen Passed on Expendables 2 role

July 8, 2012

Donnie Yen is one of Hong Kong's hottest action stars and has been for over 20 years, but unlike some of his peers, he's mostly stayed away from Hollywood with one of his few Western movies being Guilermo del Toro's Blade 2.

This week, Yen made a rare visit to New York City to attend the New York Asian Film Festival as a special guest, to receive a Star Asia award and answer questions after his movies The Lost Bladesman and Dragon (Wu xia).

This morning, ComingSoon.net sat down with Yen to talk about some of upcoming movies and when we asked him about possibly returning to Hollywood any time soon, he told us about his decision not to be in the upcoming The Expendables 2, which he had been approached to appear in last year:

"They wanted me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I just didn't feel the role clicked. I was flattered that I was approached by the producers but I just didn't see the role they asked me to do being that intriguing. I didn't really want to do it but I'm open for anything. Doing a movie is a stressful thing. You spend months of you life focusing into that one project and I want to make sure I do something I really like or I'm really passionate about."

JCVD discusses Expendables 2

July 7, 2012

Working with a legion of A-list action stars in "The Expendables 2" was a priceless experience for Jean-Claude Van Damme. Though Van Damme himself is also known as a notable action veteran, he confessed that he learned a lot from his co-stars.

"I have lots of respects for them, so I felt great," the 51-year-old told Total Film about his co-stars. "Stallone was very happy about my acting. He was kinda upset because he didn't know which take to take. So he's a great teacher in a sense of knowing the character. Very intelligent."

"He's really making a movie as an Expendable. It's almost like he has his own world. He's created a world and he's in that world. I have a lot of respect for that because he really showed me how much a person can love a film."

"Being with all those guys was kinda cool because I knew all of them before. I met them on the screen. I met them on my way up when I was just doing movies like Bloodsport, Kickboxer... and then the opening of Hollywood Planet. So it was kinda like a reunion."

On playing the lead villain in the sequel to "The Expendables", Van Damme gushed, "I've got to say a big thank you to the idea of Stallone putting the Expendables together, and to choose me for the villain. 'I wanted to play the villain,' I said. Which is not stupid. Stallone said, 'F***, he's giving me the pleasure to kick the s*** out of him'."

"They didn't see me as Jean-Claude Van Damme in a sense," he opened up. "They saw me running and shaking hands to everyone like kind of a cool kid. That's how I felt. But I didn't do it on purpose."
